Under the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC), all seafarers must be provided with a Seafarer Employment Agreement (SEA) before joining a vessel.
We encourage you to read this document carefully and to raise any questions or concerns directly with the yacht or your employer.
Vela is also happy to discuss the SEA with you and offer guidance where needed.
The SEA is issued by the yacht or employer and should clearly outline your wages, leave entitlement, repatriation arrangements, and any other relevant terms and conditions. Vela does not issue SEAs, as the agreement is strictly between you and the yacht, management company, or employer. Our role as a placement service is to make introductions and to ensure you are aware of your rights and responsibilities before joining a vessel.

You are advised to keep a copy of your SEA and all relevant certificates with you at all times.
